Patrickcare

The Texas Senate passed to the House a bill demanding that a physician to perform a sonogram on a pregnant woman before performing an abortion.  While Republicans rightly complain of intrusiveness of Obamacare and death panels.  The are  eager to jump on and push this bill through.    Maybe we need a state official to monitor all Doctor patient interactions. We can call it Patrickcare. To honor Dan Patrick who proudly pushed this bill forward.

One of Gov. Rick Perry‘s designated “emergency” pieces of legislation cleared an early hurdle on Wednesday when the Senate State Affairs Committee voted in favor of a bill that would require a physician to perform a sonogram on a pregnant woman at least 24 hours before performing an abortion.

The bill passed on a 7-2 vote, with Sen. Rodney Ellis, D-Houston, and Leticia Van de Putte, D-San Antonio, dissenting. It is likely to be heard by the full Senate as early as next week.

The Senate passed bills in 2007 and 2009 that included sonogram provisions, but those efforts died in the House. On Wednesday, the committee approved a revised version of the bill, sponsored by state Sen. Dan Patrick, R-Houston.
