Eric The Sci Guy alerts us to the the flyby pof the EPOXI mission.
Earlier today NASA’s EPOXI mission made its closest approach to a small comet Hartley 2, about 430 miles, and the imagery team has already released some excellent photos of the encounter.
Scientists knew the cometary nucleus wasn’t round, but they certainly didn’t know it was shaped like a peanut. Here’s one of the best photos.
We are reminded once again there are things bigger than the world we see.
