Opinions, Everyone has One

Eric Berger explains why some people believe that Obama is a Muslim:

Rottinghaus has seen an increase in polarization — counters pushed to the right or left permanently — with the rise of the Internet. This has given people a chance to only get news and information from sources that agree with their political bias. This has led to a decline of “open minds” when it comes to society.

Thus, the idea of President Obama as a Muslim fits within a belief system for someone who doesn’t like him, doesn’t trust him and doesn’t like his openness toward Muslims (expressed most recently with his statements about the mosque near Ground Zero.) If someone wants to believe something like this is true, Rottinghaus said, there’s a pretty good chance they will believe it’s true.

He has a point, Most people who wish to engage in a political discussion, will just stop listening when someone is making a point that they disagree with.  We’ve all had discussions with  folks who claim that one opinion is as valid as another even,  if there is no logic or facts to support it.

Then again I’m not so sure myself that Pres Obama is a Christian and not a Moslem.  His only know affiliation with any church Is with Jerimiah Wright’s church, and the things I’ve heard from Jerimiah Wright don’t sound Christian to me and sound a bit like the rhetoric from the most extreme of  Islamic terrorist.  Who knows what he really believes in his heart. But we are reminded.

Matthew 7:1-3 (KJV)

Judge not, that ye be not judged.

For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Blogging is something I do for myself. I've been blogging since Sept. 2003, mostly about politics, guns, and observations about the word around me.
