I'm think I know how to handle the links page. It should have been real obvious. Why not as a blog?

The origins of my links page was in 1995. The Web and the concepts were new, and not many of us understanding how big it was going to get, nor where the web was going. There weren't any search engines at the time. I created a link page listing that was huge. It consisted of hundreds of listings of pages I had been to. It was fairly organized by catagories, and a good place to start looking for anything. The problem was that the links became obsolete or just weren't as interesting or as good as what else was out there. The other facter is that there search engines have become so darn good. My links became obsolete and it was a pain in the neck to keep up and edit a web page to keep up. A blog makes keeping upa little easier. I think I will try Radio UserLand . It comes with a 30 day trial and runs locally. If I like the program I will purchase it. If I like it a lot I will maintain this blog with it.

There are two versions of softwire, for the price of one. 3.1 and 4.2. 3.1 is for Visual Studio 6.0 and 4.2 is for .NET Unfortunately 4.2 is still beta. They haven't written the DAQ and control modules yet. These programs area great way to quickly write up a utility, or to monitor I/O. It is a little pricey, but its a great way to learn programming. I will followup later as I get into projects.

This was a picture sent by Paige. I hope you enjoy it.

Listening to some people on the radio. How telemarketers have rights. I should have the right not to be solicited on a phone I pay for, when I've taken the time to opt out. How can there be any justification to calling people who wish not to be called?

I think I have the counter problem resolved. I am using the free (albiet Beta) version of Lumberjack utilities. This gives me a lot of help. I also found a utility that that helps make sense of the logs. called Webalizer which gives me some neat graphics and lots of information. I hope this helps some of the bloggers out there.

Uploaded system file It took me longer than I expected. Next is the links file. This is going to be a lot of work.

I found this blog its an outstanding piece of work, Marc Brazaeau has put together a fine page of articles and links. I need to link this to my pages. This is one that is worth while folowing. The links on his side bar and within the blogs are fascinating. The quality sets a high mark to reach.

I've been exploring other BLOGs to se if I can find a direction that I can aim this one too. So far I find blogger is the nicest package at least for the money. I think I'm getting hits on this, but I don't have any counter I can't find a way to get support through SBC any more. I know it can be done, but the Help is blocked because of the Yahoo (upgrade?)

Browsing through other BLogs I noticed that lots of folks are using blogs as diarys and others to just to post there litterary thoughts. I was hoping to make this into something more informative.

Still working on the System pages today, but I'm almost finished. Equality went with ruok to the Opera house. Went with Jim to Fisherman's Wharf to help Heather with the drink Contest. $35 and 3 drinks latter I don't know how much we helped.

The recent waves of worms and viri may be more sinister and directed than a casual observer may realize. There is a war a war out there between Spam fighters and the Spammers themselves. The spam fighters have made available lists to help ISPs and user software effectively block spam. The spammers dont like this at all. and have directed Worms to attack the anti-spam web sites The worms are spread to thousands of unwitting users, the worm then in co-operation with thousands of other contaminated users attack these sites. Several of these sites have been put out of commission with these Denial Of Service attacks. This is the cost of a a few people who don't keep their computers secure, and those who will actually respond to any spam.

Just wondering, "When did Walmart change their mind about buying American?" Its hard to find anything not made in Asia there. After Sam died all bets were off.

Last night, We went to Pappadeaux's in Seabrook. I had a most excellent twin lobster. A good lobster in in this part of the country is a rarity. A fine night for Equality and I.

Hmmm. seems as though the courts threw out the national no-call plan. If I were smart I would understand why some sales peoples right to disturb me supercedes my right to be left alone.

The Swen Virus seems to be subsiding. What a pain in the ass that was. I started editing the System page. Next step will be the Links pages.

Microsoft is shutting down its chat service, according to the article They are doing it to shut down paedophelia. I wonder if they will close access to IRC and email, The Paedophelias use these services also. MSN advertises their parental controls, I wonder why they felt their controls weren't good enough.

Talk about turn about being fair play? Kazaa sues the music companies for copyright infringement. according to an article on msnbc.com The music companies are using a Kazaa Lite which is hacked version in which the spyware has been removed without authorization. It doesn't get much funnier than this!!

Not much newsworthy happening, Still getting hammered with swen emails.
I will be working with Softwire in the next couple of weeks. I need to get key info 3.1 and get the email issues resolved with 4.1. Softwire is a graphical interface for programing with Visual Studio.

Work to be done. The System page is real old and moldy.

The Swen Virus is still rolling in. I'm updating the spiritof76 pages to reflect the blog pages but my dsl keeps cutting out. The update went smoothly, and I added an email address to the blog. Next thing to add is a counter.

I've been getting about 100 emails containing a Microsoft Update or patch a day. This is a worm that apparently is spread through Usenet address harvesting techniques. Hopefully not many people are actually running this creature.

Starting the new Blog today. Using blogger.com tools. I will be looking at other editing tools, but this is A new start.
